Happy, Happy...Joy Joy

Things have been a bit quiet here lately, and even though I've been *thinking* about some cool new things, I haven't actually been able to *execute* said cool things because real life has a way of playing havoc with the best laid plans. Sorry about that.

I've basically been in support mode at work the last two months. Some massive changes in the company has meant a lot of support to end users, fixing broken apps, etc. Unfortunately, that means no new development, so no new "direct from production" tips to share. I am happy to say that there were no critical, impact-to-the-business kind of issues, so we weathered the storm pretty well. I'm also really happy because I'm starting a new phase in my career.

Even though I was strongly tempted by some evildoers, I just couldn't go to the Dark Side and in fact strengthened my resolve to fight for Good. Yep...I got a new job!!!

Starting on the 17th, I will officially be a Senior IT Specialist at IBM!!! I couldn't think of a better place to continue in the ways of the Lotus evangelist and now I've kind of "put my money where my mouth is". I'm joining the Lotus Technical Sales team here in the Cleveland/Pittsburgh area. In that role, I'll be doing pre-sales work, lots of presentations, proof-of-concept projects, etc. It's a bit of a different path than the one I've been on, but it should be an excellent opportunity for growth. My favorite part of the job has always been interacting with customers, so I can't wait to get started!

I still plan on focusing on the same things I always have on this blog, so don't tune out yet. I love the field of user experience and user centered design because it is ever changing and there is always new stuff to learn. Taking this knowledge and making incremental changes for the better is a great feeling and I hope that so far I've been able to provide you with some good starting points or at least piqued your curiosity to explore what you can do with your Notes UI. Stayed tuned, 'cause there's a lot more to come.

Woot!...I'm going to IBM! Yep...I'm excited... :-)
